La Perla del Priorat was founded in 1998 with the first wine produced in 1999. The estate’s vineyards are relatively young so old vine Garnacha and Carinena are purchased to produce the flagship Comte Pirenne bottling.
90 points Wine Advocate: The dark ruby-colored 2004 Noster is a blend of 55% Garnacha and 45% Carinena. It offers up an enticing nose of slate, underbrush, black cherry, and blueberry. Elegant on the palate and surprisingly forward, it has excellent grip, succulent fruit, and light, ripe tannin. It will evolve for 2-3 years and offer prime drinking from 2011 to 2019. It is an excellent value for a wine from Priorat.
