Our fourth bottling of Zinfandel is an excellent example of how much of an impact the growing season and the vineyard affect a wine’s final flavor profile. Like the 2004, this has a delicious aroma of berries, violet floral characters, blueberries and toast. The cooler year gave us more of the white pepper and spicy flavors along with berries, plums and molasses. We are continuing to add a small percentage of Petite Syrah, 4%, and after 13 months in 50% new French and Hungarian oak barrels, the result is a lush, elegant mouth feel that complements the concentration of flavors and color.
